WITH finals fast approaching, a host of Port Adelaide players are hoping to break into the side, starting with Saturday night’s clash with North Melbourne.
With no injuries reported out of last week’s win over Sydney, selectors could have chosen to go in unchanged against the Kangaroos but Dan Houston has been confirmed to return from suspension.
There is also a chance other changes could be made and with a near empty injury list, there are no shortage of players in the mix.
Steven Motlop was one of those who impressed in a match simulation session involving Sydney’s AFL non-selected players.
The classy forward got plenty of the ball and showed he still knows his way around goals, finishing with 26 disposals and four goals.
Defenders Jarrod Lienert, Miles Bergman and Joel Garner were also solid across the backline and Kane Farrell showed some of his class.
Having missed selection last week, Sam Mayes is in the mix to return as is clever forward Boyd Woodcock, who has looked comfortable at AFL level in his four games this season.
Willem Drew and Joe Atley have also been among the emergencies in recent weeks and would be eager to play their respective first AFL games of the season.
Port Adelaide will on Friday evening name its side to tackle the Kangaroos, with first bounce at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast at 7:40pm AEST / 7:10pm ACST on Saturday.
