PORT ADELAIDE’s Travis Boak, Darcy Byrne-Jones and Charlie Dixon have been nominated by their teammates for the AFL Players’ Association MVP Award for 2020.
The trio were nominated by their peers as part of a two-stage process to determine the competition’s best player as voted by the players. The next stage will be the wider playing group around the league voting to decide the winner.
Players cannot vote for their own teammates in the second stage of the process.
Alongside the MVP Award are the Most Courageous, Best Captain and Best First Year player.
Port captain Tom Jonas was the club’s nomination for Most Courageous and Best Captain, while Mitch Georgiades was voted as the club’s Best First Year player.
The winners of each of the awards except the MVP will be presented alongside the 22Under22 squad on Tuesday 22 September. Port Adelaide has Zak Butters and Sam Powell-Pepper in the running for that honour.
The MVP Award will be announced on Thursday 24 September.
MVP: Travis Boak, Darcy Byrne-Jones, Charlie Dixon
Most Courageous: Tom Jonas
Best First Year: Mitchell Georgiades

Voting process key messages:
The nomination for the MVP Award is a two-stage process. The first involves players nominating three teammates for the award, before three nominees from every club are presented to the wider playing group for a vote to decide the winner. Players cannot vote for their own teammates in stage two of the process.
