The Power’s 2007 leading goal kicker, Brett Ebert, has recovered from an ankle injury and will face Richmond on Saturday at AAMI Stadium.

Ebert has been included in the Power’s team, along with tough-nut Matt Thomas, who was best on ground for Norwood last weekend.

Here’s Power General Manager – Football Operations Peter Rohde’s inside word on this week’s selection…

Ebert comes back in to replace Justin Westhoff, who we felt has been struggling for form a little bit. We want him to play in the SANFL just to take some of the pressure off. For a second year player he’s received a lot of attention, so we’ll send him back so he can get his hands on the ball a bit more and play with a bit of freedom. Obviously with Ebert coming back in and with some forecast rain, we thought the conditions wouldn’t suit him as much.

Matty Thomas comes back in after recovering from his foot injury. He was in good form before he got injured and he has had a couple of good games in the SANFL – he was probably best on ground for Norwood last weekend.

We see him as an integral part of our future, so we were keen to get him back in because he provides flexibility, with the ability to play in the midfield and down back.

Surj is a bit stiff having come in for one game and then going out again, but he was in for a specific role last weekend. We think Thomas probably gives us more flexibility for this particular game, with Chad expected to play a bit more down back. Chad will probably rotate with a couple of others playing on Matthew Richardson depending on the role Richo plays.

Nathan Krakouer, Damon White and Nathan Lonie will need to keep playing consistent SANFL football and wait for their chance.
