SWANS co-captain Jarrad McVeigh will coach Sydney in Saturday's game against Port Adelaide in Blacktown.
The NAB Challenge friendly will pit the rehabilitating McVeigh against Port's Ken Hinkley in the coaches box, with the Swans skipper to be in control of his team like an old-fashioned playing coach in an unprecedented move for the modern AFL competition.
In a statement released on sydneyswans.com.au, Swans media said McVeigh would be "involved in all pre and post-match coaching commitments" and would "work closely with his assistant coaches comprised of players from each area of the field – defence, midfield and forward – during Saturday’s clash."
McVeigh is currently in rehabilitation from post-season knee surgery.
Port Adelaide takes on Sydney at Blacktown International Sportspark on Saturday 20 February at 4:40pm (AEDT).
