The 2020 season proved the value of club membership in terms of getting to games when attendances were limited.

THE Port Adelaide Football Club is poised and ready to chase down some ambitious membership goals for the 2021 AFL season. Backing this up is the biggest renewal drive the club has seen in recent years.

Current figures show the total membership number at 32,120 which is tracking 13% up on the same time last year.

Pleasingly, 2020 members are renewing early and, in many instances, upgrading their membership packages. And this trend is also mirrored with a record number of new members joining the club in the first two months of the 2021 campaign.

Reserved Seats in the Western Stand are sold out and Grand Final ticket guarantee memberships are in high demand. Platinum members are being urged to renew quickly due to increased requests for this specific product. The membership department has been inundated with calls, emails and messages, particularly for 11-game reserved seat memberships and seat upgrades.

It is clear Port Adelaide’s True Believers are excited about the season ahead.

With a target to hit 40,000 members before Christmas, the club has implemented a membership price freeze, increased its dedicated sales team, invested in digital campaigns and will use every tool and lever to ensure it reaches its goal.

Club CEO Matthew Richardson said with a range of affordable membership options available, he had no doubt the club could reach its target.

“We think reaching our target of 40,000 members by Christmas is very achievable,” he told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“The 2020 season proved the value of club membership in terms of getting to games when attendances were limited, and it seems people have realised that, given the number upgrading to higher levels of membership.”

One lucky member, who renews or joins before the 18th of December, will take home a brand new 2020 MG3 Core+NAV valued at $17,190, thanks to the club’s joint major partner MG.

Mr Richardson said the prize was a way of recognising the loyalty shown by members in 2020.

“We are fortunate to have the loudest and most passionate membership in the competition and we want to recognise their loyalty in a challenging year by offering a prize for those who sign on or renew early,” he explained.

“Ken and the team went close this year and nobody is satisfied with missing out on the Premiership.

“The group is primed and hungry to go better in 2021 and the best way to be there for the journey is to get your membership.”
