YOU may have noticed that neither Robbie nor I made comment about Round 12 last week - we both thought about it, and then decided that we’d rather look at things half-way through a round rather than not!
Robbie beat me in Round 12, but I’m confident that I can peg him back this week, with 12 players still to play in the remaining 3 matches of Round 13, including some big earners.
The mid-season split round is always a tricky one, with it never being quite certain as to whether or not you should make a mid-round trade or not - for instance, those of you with Carlton’s Matthew Kruezer in your line-up might be sweating on a ruckman, but those with his direct opponent from last week - Fremantle’s Aaron Sandilands - will be laughing, with the big man picking up 128 points after Kruezer went down with a serious knee injury, only able to bring in 5 points.
So for those now without their Carlton ruckman, who should you be looking at? Losing Kruezer is a blow, but his $331,000 will definitely come in handy for those looking to downgrade.
The value ruck trade options as I see it are:
Mark Jamar from Melbourne just gets better and better each week, and at $277,100 you could sell Kruezer and still have plenty of cash left over, but get a player who picked up 114 points last round.
Adelaide’s Kurt Tippett plays primarily as a forward, but his value has dipped $70,800 to only $248,600. With the Crows’ form improving and Tippett’s goalkicking getting better as the season progresses, he could definitely be a good buy.
Alternatively you could swap one Carlton ruckman for another - Sam Jacobs ($248,700) is likely to shoulder a greater workload for the rest of 2010, and he might be joined by either Shaun Hampson ($234,800) or Robbie Warnock ($157,700), the former of whom hasn’t played a game yet in 2010 and the latter who has only played 5 games this year.
Decisions, decisions!
Congratulations to Richard van der Linde whose team 1870 PB Guernsey got the highest score in the Official Pizza Hut Power Dream Team Group this week with a score of 2,469. He’ll be digging in to a week’s worth of free pizza thanks to Pizza Hut!
