MITCH GEORGIADES insists he, Todd Marshall, Peter Ladhams and Charlie Dixon can co-exist in the Port Adelaide forward line in 2021, as the side prepares for its last pre-season hit-out.

Port will face the Crows at Noarlunga as part of the AAMI Community Series on Sunday afternoon.

Last year Dixon booted 34 goals to finish runner-up in the Coleman Medal and was the only Port player to get more than 15 in the shortened quarters and abbreviated season.

Georgiades says the other tall targets, including him, have been working on way to take some of the focus away from Dixon and get more goals themselves.

“Todd and Charlie and myself have been working together a lot in that regard as well as Pete Ladhams trying to take that pressure off him and provide a couple of more options to take the stress off Charlie,” he explained to portadelaidefc.com.au.

“I think there’s plenty of room for all of us (in the forward line).

“We’ve worked together really well across the pre-season to try and make that fit so to get that together on game day is something we’ll keep testing out.”

Georgiades came to Port Adelaide as a known talent who had fallen off the radar of many clubs after missing his draft year with injury.

His surprise first-round selection caught many off guard, but he fit in seamlessly in 2020, managing eight goals in seven eye-catching games, including a Rising Star nomination for a three-goal effort against Melbourne in Round 9.

Now, with a full pre-season under his belt, the 19-year-old wants to have more of an impact.

“The body is feeling really good. I’ve got through the pre-season unscathed and I’m looking forward to the game this week and going from there,” the West Australian product said.

“I wanted to get my body right after last year where I had a couple of niggles that set me back a bit so to get through pre-season this year and make sure my body was really strong and get through unscathed was a big goal for me to progress into the season.

“I’d like to get out there a fair bit and have a fair bit of impact on the scoreboard as well. I haven’t really set a number (of goals) but any is a good result.”

To start with he is targeting a good return against Adelaide on Sunday.

The sides met in a practice game at Alberton last week with Port enjoying a comfortable 52-point win and Georgiades is expecting a fierce Crows outfit to respond at Noarlunga.

“I think they’ll come back at us a lot harder,” he said.

“They showed some really good stuff at the start of the game and we were able to ease into the game a bit later on which was good for us.

“It’ll be a good test against the boys again this weekend so we’ll see how we go.”

Sunday’s game is officially at capacity. It will be shown live on Fox Footy with the first bounce at 3:40pm.
