Peter Jackson Player of the Week
Sam Gray
This was by far his best game for the season. Sam played with AFL speed and intensity in offence, but I was delighted that his game was also full of tough defensive actions.
Player Reviews
Tom Gray
Was very busy across half forward. Forward pressure was a highlight of his performance as well as good finish in front of goals.
Kane Mitchell
I thought he worked hard for four quarters. Kane was able to win good inside ball and use his run to support our offense. Leadership around stoppages was excellent.
Steven Summerton
Strong performance again throughout the game, but still needs to be more involved in our defence when we are not in possession.
Dougal Howard
Looked more aggressive this week in marking contests and when the ball hit the ground. He should gain some confidence from this performance.
Tom Logan
Had good battles with the Eagles' creative half-forwards. Provides outstanding leadership every time he wears the black and white.
Sid Masters
Really composed down back this week. I’m rapt he learnt from his mistakes from last week, and defended really well for us when the ball was in his area.
Sam Russell
Similar to Tommy Logan, Sam defended hard and won many battles when he needed to. We just want a little more run-and-carry from him over the next few weeks.
Jack Haarsma
Very solid performance and similar game to Tom Gray. Love his toughness to win contested footy and he always makes the right decision when in possession.
John Butcher
Very good battle with Wundke, had a couple kicked on him but did not drop his lip and still battled hard over the course of the game.
Karl Amon
Took time to get into the game but his third quarter was the difference. He ran hard set up many attacks for us and finished the game strongly.
Darcy Byrne-Jones
Consistent performance across four quarters. Defended really well and looked to attack for us when in offence. Would like him to hurt the oppo more by foot.
Logan Austin
Got the match-up we wanted and he defended really smart and is improving his game each time he takes the field.
Andrew Moore
I felt this was his most consistent performance for the Magpies. Andrew was just very good around stoppage as well as getting on the hunt for the footy when the ball was there to be won.
Jarred Redden
Reddo was outstanding in the ruck for us. Competed strongly and made the mids walk taller around the stoppages. He cannot now drop his standards as he is very important to us.
Anthony Biemans
Liked his game again as he spent time at both ends of the ground. Plays tough and gives us a contest every time he goes near the ball.
Sam Colquhoun
Very good performance, worked hard and ran everywhere on the big ground. He is at his best when he brings the balance of offensive run and defensive intent.
Ciaran Hollingworth-Hughes
Made his debut and had a very consistent contribution while playing down back, looked to defend hard and showed good composure under pressure.
Johann Wagner
Not much impact on the ground this week. Must work harder to maintain consistency in both our attacking style and our defensive pursuit of the oppo when we lose possession.
Mitch Harvey
Competed really well in the ruck this week, needs to have more impact up forward earlier in the game but did get some shots on goal late in the match through workrate.
Luke Reynolds
Good first up game since coming back from Carlton. Showed his class at times but just needs to play his role for us for longer periods.
