MAGPIES captain Steven Summerton has been named in the SANFL 23-man final squad to play the VFL in Port Melbourne on Saturday.

Summerton has been a standout for the Magpies in the first half of the season with regular disposal counts in the thirties and providing sound leadership as a classy outside midfielder.

He is the only Magpie named in this year's squad, which will train under the watchful eye of state coach and usual Woodville-West Torrens mentor Mick Godden at AAMI Stadium on Monday and Wednesday night ahead of the state game at the Port Melbourne Oval on Saturday.

The SANFL team will name its captain and vice-captain after training on Wednesday night.
