After lodging a formal request with the SANFL, Port Adelaide welcomes the SANFL’s decision to fixture the club’s SANFL game against the Adelaide Crows as a curtain-raiser to the Round 8 AFL Showdown at Adelaide Oval on Saturday 8 May.
The day will mark the first time Port Adelaide’s SANFL and AFL teams have played a double-header since 2012.
Port Adelaide chief executive Matthew Richardson says the club is looking forward to bringing the entire club together on the one day.
“We approached the SANFL requesting for our SANFL game against the Crows could be played as a curtain-raiser to our home AFL Showdown,” Mr Richardson said.
“We are grateful that the SANFL obliged and we are now looking forward to putting on a spectacular game-day for the Port Adelaide family.
“We know our members will enjoy seeing both our SANFL and AFL teams on Adelaide Oval on the same day.
“Holding the SANFL game before our AFL Showdown sets up a great day of footy and we encourage our members and supporters to get to the ground early to take in both games.”
Port Adelaide SANFL members will have priority access to redeem their tickets to the double-header on May 8.
