PORT ADELAIDE supporters have their chance to go down in history at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night with the venue to record its 10 millionth patron since its redevelopment.
So far 9,988,094 people have witnessed an event at Adelaide Oval since its redevelopment opened in December 2013.
That means the 11,906th person who goes through the turnstiles at Port Adelaide’s game against Geelong will help the stadium tick over its attendance milestone.
That lucky person will also win an incredible prize – access for two people to all major events at Adelaide Oval in the next 12 months, seated in the Audi Stadium Club.
Events include all Port Adelaide games as well as major events including international cricket and concerts including Metallica, U2 and Queen.
Port Adelaide Football Club Executive General Manager Matthew Richardson congratulated the venue for reaching the milestone, and said it was fitting that it would be reached at a game featuring the club.
“The Adelaide Oval has long been a special place for the Port Adelaide Football Club, as a place where we have won 20 premierships including the record six premierships in a row from 1954 to 1959,” he said.
“Port Adelaide was a key driver in the push for football to return to Adelaide Oval, hosting and winning the historic first AFL game at the venue in 2011 and the first game after the redevelopment in 2014.
“The Oval has been transformed into a unique modern stadium which brilliantly combines old and new and one which Port Adelaide and our fans are proud to call home each winter.”
The celebrate the 10 millionth fan milestone, Adelaide Oval also wants people to vote for their top 20 memorable moments at the venue.
Voting will open on Saturday, 22 June via www.adelaideoval.com.au
There are 40 choices to pick from and the top 20 moments (as voted for by the public) will be displayed in the Riverbank Stand
“It’s been more than five years since the redeveloped Adelaide Oval opened and we’re delighted people continue to come through the gates in such strong numbers, whether it’s to support their team or attend an event,” said Adelaide Oval SMA Chairman, Rear Admiral the Honourable Kevin Scarce.
“The atmosphere at the Oval on major event days is electric and it’s why we see patrons coming back again and again.
