In: Powell-Pepper
Out: Boak (injured)
MIDFIELDER/FORWARD Sam Powell-Pepper will make his return to AFL football in Saturday night’s clash with Brisbane at the Gabba.
He is the only inclusion to the team which beat St Kilda last week with experienced midfielder Travis Boak making way with a minor quad injury.
Boak has been carrying the injury for a couple of weeks and it is expected he will be able to feature in next week’s highly anticipated Showdown.
Powell-Pepper has yet to feature at AFL level in 2021 after taking a period of leave from the game.
The 23-year-old has performed strongly in the SANFL in the last fortnight, including a stand-out 34 disposals, eight clearances and eight tackles against Glenelg last Saturday night.
Sam Mayes, who was an unused medical substitute has been named among the emergencies, along with midfielder Tom Rockliff, defender Jarrod Lienert and forward Kane Farrell.
The medical substitute will be named from that group of players an hour prior to Saturday night’s first bounce.
The game against the Lions gets underway at 7:25pm AEST / 6:55pm ACST.
