Butcher chance for round one despite scare
Despite suffering a hand injury against the Swans John Butcher is a chance to play in round one.
The tall forward played his first game of AFL football since round 15 last year after which he had hip surgery.
Butcher injured his hand against the Swans with senior coach Ken Hinkley confirming an injury concern during his post match press-conference.
“There’s a little concern (about the injury),” said Hinkley.
“He (Butcher) got a knock to the hand, it may be cracked, it may not be."
Hinkley went on to say the severity of the injury was likely to be minor and said Butcher would be a chance to be available in round one.
“Talking to the doctors … it was more about if it (a hand injury) is it’s one of those ones where you play quite quickly.
“It’s not likely for him to miss round one at this stage."
