Carr’s back
Josh Carr is officially a Power player again.
The 2004 premiership player officially re-joined the Port Adelaide Football Club at 9.43am (Adelaide time) this morning, via the second pick at the NAB Pre-Season Draft.
Carr, who has been training with the Power since pre-season began back in early November, played 105 games for the club between 1999 and 2004. Originally from East Fremantle, he was taken with the No. 7 pick at the 1998 NAB AFL Draft.
Carr’s playing career at the Power was one of great success. Of his 105 games, 77 were wins, with only 27 losses and one draw.
After making his debut in 2000, Carr won the Best First Year Player award, and followed it up in 2001 by finished second in the best-and-fairest and winning the Most Improved Player award. He won the club’s Best Team Man award in 2002 and 2003, and in 2004 was deputy vice-captain to Matthew Primus and Warren Tredrea.
Carr requested a trade to Fremantle following the 2004 season to play alongside his brother Matt. At the Dockers, Carr played 83 games across four seasons, where he also held a vice-captaincy position.
He is considered a much-loved son of the PAFC and if Monday night’s reaction from the members to him appearing at the Annual General Meeting is anything to go by, his return will be very popular among the Alberton faithful.
