PORT ADELAIDE defender Ryan Burton has been nominated for the 2021 AFL Mark of the Year for his courageous mark in the last quarter of Thursday night’s game against Geelong.
The 24-year-old came from the side and leapt over an opponent, taking the ball cleanly and landing awkwardly on his head.
His mark came at a time when Port trailed by 16-points with five minutes to play but it was not enough to help his side get over the line against a strong Cats outfit.
It was one of eight marks taken by Burton on the night, but by far his best.
The other Round 13 nominees for Mark of the Year are Geelong’s Esava Ratugolea and Lachie Young from North Melbourne.
