PORT ADELAIDE duo Willem Drew and Mitch Georgiades have both been recognised with selection in the AFL Players' Association 2021 22under22 squad of 40 players.
The AFL Players’ Association Board selected the squad of 40 players with the support from Champion Data, with fans to vote to select the final 22.
The concept was introduced in 2013 to reward young players for having an impact at their club in the early stages of their careers.
Players must have played at least 12 games in 2021 to be eligible.
Drew has had an incredible season following two years blighted by injury. He has played all 20 games this season and ranks third across the entire competition for pressure acts.
The 22-year-old Koroit product was drafted with pick 33 in the 2016 national draft but had to wait until Round 1 2019 to make his debut.
In 2021, the midfielder is averaging 18.8 disposals and 6.7 tackles per game, ranking him as elite among others in his position.
Georgiades has booted 30 goals in 19 games this season, after making his debut and playing seven games in 2020.
The high leaping forward was a mark of the year nominee for his towering grab over Melbourne captain Max Gawn in Round 17, and continues to excite the Port Adelaide faithful with his scoring ability and relaxed kicking style.
The 19-year-old was drafted at pick 18 in the 2019 National Draft from Subiaco in Western Australia.
Fellow young gun Zak Butters was named in the final 22under22 side last year with Connor Rozee and Dan Houston part of the team the year before.
Fans are now asked to vote for the final team before August 18.
The fan whose team is best matched by the final team will be awarded a prize from the AFL Players’ Association.
The final 22 will be announced on Tuesday 24 August.
