Port Adelaide signed talented tall Lauren Young as part of the 2023 Expansion U18 Talent Pathway Pre-Signing Period. At 178-centimetres, the South Australian product is a versatile footballer who has predominantly played a mix of forward and midfield. Described as ‘the ultimate utility’, Young has been outright dominant in her career thus far.
Touted as the possible number one draft pick in her draft year, Young already boasts a long list of accolades at just 18 years of age. At 15 years old she was named the best and fairest in the SANFLW, as well as South Australian MVP and All-Australian following the Under 19 National Championships. In the same year, she also won the SANFLW’s breakthrough player award and coaches’ award.
Part of Port Adelaide’s academy program for a number of years, Young is a ready-made footballer who has excelled in the challenges presented to her thus far in her career. She will unfortunately miss the 2024 season with an ACL injury, however will remain close to the group during her rehabilitation.
