Port Adelaide expects to know on Tuesday the extent of Steven Salopek’s injured ankle but fears the quality midfielder will not be available for the clash with Brisbane in two weeks time.

Salopek went off early in the third term of Sunday’s win over Essendon after rolling his ankle while being tackled near the interchange gate on the members’ wing.

He was due to have scans on the ankle on Monday and will learn his fate on Tuesday.

The club was expecting to find ligament damage in the ankle, meaning Salopek could miss as many as three or four matches depending on the extent of the damage.

Salopek had already missed two weeks this year with hamstring tightness.

The Power confirmed two other new injuries on Monday that kept players out of their SANFL matches over the weekend.

Forward Josh Mahoney injured his ankle while training last Wednesday, forcing him to miss Glenelg’s match on the weekend, while exciting youngster Nathan Krakouer has been suffering from shin soreness and has already been ruled out of this weekend’s round of SANFL matches.

The Power’s official injury list for the week beginning Monday 18 June is as follows...

Troy Chaplin (broken foot) – 1-2 weeks
Nathan Krakouer (shin soreness) – 1-2 weeks
Josh Mahoney (ankle) – test
Daniel Motlop (broken collarbone) – 2-3 weeks
Steven Salopek (ankle) – TBA
Matt Thomas (knee, medial ligament) – 6 weeks
