JAY Schulz responded well to being dropped from the Power side, going back to the SANFL and kicking five goals to win the Power SANFL Player of the Week Award.

Schulz was strong in the marking contests and was able to get a break from his opponent on the lead, who wore him very tightly.

The award is judged by Power development coaches Garry Hocking and Darren Trevena and is announced exclusively at PortAdelaideFC.com.au each week.

Mitch Banner, Scott Harding and Danny Meyer were among the other impressive performers. The full wrap is below.

SANFL Player of the Week
Jay Schulz (for Eagles v Norwood @ Woodville) - Very good game for Schulzy having come back to the SANFL. His man - Alex Stopp - played him very tightly and Schulzy had to work really hard to get his kicks. Took both contested and lead-up marks and showed great attack on the footy. Finished the day with 16 possessions, 9 marks, 4 tackles and 5.1.

PTV: Schulz Bags Five

Daniel Webb (for West v Sturt @ Mannum) - Played ruck and forward and worked hard in the ruck with some good hitouts to advantage. Didn’t have a huge influence around the ground, but a solid game all up. Finished with 17 hitouts and 3 tackles.

Matt Lobbe (for West v Sturt @ Mannum) - In the ruck again but wasn't quite as prominent this week. Conditions didn’t suit big men and we’re confident he’ll bounce back well this week. Finished with 14 hitouts, 11 possessions and 3 tackles.

Cameron Cloke (for Port v Glenelg @ the Bay) - Played forward and in the ruck but didn’t have as big of an influence as he has in previous weeks. Still did some good defensive work with 4 tackles and he kicked 2 goals.

Danny Meyer (for Glenelg v Port @ the Bay) - Another busy day for Danny picking up 25 touches, 17 of which were by foot. He’s continued to improve the defensive side of his game and he again chased and tackled well. Linked up well through the midfield and took another contender for mark of the year.

Jasper Pittard (for Sturt reserves v West reserves @ Mannum) - Jasper was again good this week playing half back and on a wing. Made a couple of mistakes by foot in the windy conditions but was good defensively, restricting his opponent’s influence. Finished with 10 kicks, 2 handballs, 3 marks and 5 tackles.

Scott Harding (for West reserves v Sturt reserves @ Mannum) - A great game for Scotty. Looked lively at stoppages with clean hands and covered a lot of ground across the four quarters. Carried the ball well and applied some good defensive pressure. Finished the day with impressive numbers: 14 kicks, 16 handballs, 6 marks, 6 tackles, 8 handball receives and an impressive 8 clearances.

Glenn Dawson (for Eagles reserves v Norwood reserves @ Woodville) - Cougar didn’t have a huge day playing deep forward. He needs to work on his consistency. 6 kicks, 3 marks and 2 behinds.

Mitch Banner (for Eagles reserves v Norwood reserves @ Woodville) - A very good game for Mitch, working hard right from the start. Was good in the clinches with a massive 10 clearances and ran hard for 11 handball receives. Chased and tackled well and finished the day with 27 kicks, 6 handballs, 6 marks, 6 tackles and 2 behinds.

Matt Westhoff (for Central reserves v South reserves @ Elizabeth) - A good return back from injury with 4.1. Lead up well and worked hard across the four quarters. A very good return after 8 weeks on the sidelines.

Daniel Bass (for South reserves v Central reserves @ Elizabeth) - A solid day playing forward, back and in the ruck. Rucked well, using his strength and competed well in the marking contests up forward. Chased and tackled well and his knowledge of the game continues to improve. 7 possessions, 2 marks, 9 hitouts and 1 goal.
