PORT ADELAIDE coach Matthew Lokan is looking forward to the challenge that faces his side when it travels to Glenelg today.

Port enter this afternoon's clash in search of a maiden win to its 2022 campaign, but claiming the two points will be no small task against an unbeaten Tigers outfit that sits atop the ladder after four rounds.

It is a challenge Lokan believes his troops are prepared for.

“It's obviously a big challenge for us; they sit on top of the ladder,” he said.

“Every game is important for us at the moment with our start to the season, and it's going to be a huge test going down to Glenelg Oval.”

The Magpies finished their 2021 campaign with an underdog win over the Tigers, snapping a 17-game unbeaten streak for the minor premier Bays.

However, Lokan knows it is a new season and Glenelg still have a talented list.

“They're pretty strong over the field,” he said.

“I think their front half stacks up, they've got probably two of the best forwards in the competition in McBean and Hosie and their midfield has spent some time together now and they're really strong around the ball.

“We need to be able to stop their key forwards and get on top in the midfield and that'll give us a chance to score.”

Port will get its captain back this week after an injury lay-off among a few changes made.

“Cam Sutcliffe will come back in after his hamstring injury and Tom Corcoran will play as well,” Lokan said.

“Both Sutts and Corcs have been around for a while now and add that experience to our group, so it's nice to be able to mix them in with our younger guys.

“We all understand how important each game is now in our season and we're looking forward to the challenge on Sunday.”

The first bounce is at 2.10pm at Glenelg Oval.
