ALIPATE Carlile and Hamish Hartlett will return to action this weekend after being late withdrawals from the Power’s win over the GWS Giants at StarTrack Oval on Saturday.

The pair suffered a bout of gastro in the leadup to the game, but would have likely played had the game been a day later, according to high performance manager Darren Burgess.

“Kenny mentioned on the day that Bobby and Hamish would have probably played if the game was on Sunday,” Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“As it was we decided they weren’t quite able to play and fortunately Paul Stewart and Ben Newton played pretty well.

“Both will be available for the Freo game.”

Brendon Ah Chee and Darcy Byrne-Jones will both be able to play for the Magpies in the SANFL on Sunday.

Ah Chee was rested last weekend under the club’s ‘no risk’ policy while Byrne-Jones missed the game with a minor injury problem. Both are now fully recovered and will be free for selection against the Double Blues.

The news is less good for Cameron Hitchcock, who has suffered a shin injury and will miss 6-8 weeks recovering.

“It’s similar to what Campbell Heath had with his shin and we’re conscious of being conservative with Cam’s management through the recovery,” Burgess said.

“He may be able to return sooner, but we’ll just take our time and go through the process properly.”

Magpies Jake Johnasen and Louis Sharrad are both a week closer to their respective returns, while no injuries were reported from the club’s thrilling win over the Crows State League team on Sunday.
