PORT ADELAIDE will travel to the Riverland this Sunday to take on West Adelaide in the second annual Russell Ebert tribute match.

The match was first played in 2022 to honour the late club legend who sadly passed away after a cancer battle the year prior, at age 72.

Born in Berri, Ebert’s junior football was played at Loxton and senior football at Waikerie before he became a household name at Alberton.

The Magpies claimed victory in the inaugural tribute match, with Xavier Duursma deemed best on ground and awarded the Russell Ebert medal.

Former Sturt junior Hugh Ferrari and Yorke Peninsula’s Murphy Short have been selected in the side for this Sunday’s game, with both players a chance to make their SANFL debut.

Riley Bonner, Francis Evans, Lachie Jones and Jackson Mead have been named AFL emergencies, with those not required on Friday night eligible to play for the Magpies.

Captain Cam Sutcliffe will remain on the sidelines after sustaining a calf strain during the Showdown in Round 1, while Kyle Marshall will miss after accepting a two-game ban for an incident in Round 3.

The game gets under way at 2:10pm at Loxton Oval and will be live-streamed at AFL.com.au and the AFL Live Official App.
