PORT ADELAIDE players Will Francou and Harper Montgomery have been selected as part of a SANFL Under 20 squad.

The 33-man squad is made up of players from each club with Woodville-West Torrens and Sturt best represented with five players each.

To be coached by Sturt reserves coach Chris Trapp, the SANFL under 20 State Team is about giving individuals a chance to put themselves on show with the hope of being drafted to an AFL club.

The side will train together over the coming weeks and play against the SANFL under 18 side in a one-off game in May.

Both Francou and Montgomery are North Adelaide juniors and if not selected for Port Adelaide’s league side are able to return to play for the Roosters under an agreement approved by the SANFL.

Francou, the son of inaugural Port Adelaide player and 1996 Magarey Medallist Josh Francou, has impressed in the early stages of the SANFL season.

In just his third league game, he had his best game at the level on Sunday against Sturt, finishing with 13 disposals and a goal.

Montgomery is the son of 2004 AFL premiership player Brett Montgomery.

He is averaging 17 disposals and four inside 50s per game in three Reserves games so far this season.

The final 23-man SANFL Under 20 side will take on the SANFL Under 18 side from 7pm on Friday 19 May.
