PORT ADELAIDE will get its second AFLW season underway in the first weekend of September.

The AFL has today written to all clubs to notify them that the 2023 NAB AFLW Season will start in AFL’s pre-finals bye week, as it did last season.

Clubs will start their pre-season training on May 29.

While the start dates for pre-season and the season proper have been confirmed, the length and structure of the season, and the final fixture remain unknown as the AFL works through a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

AFL EGM Football Operations, Legal & Integrity Andrew Dillon said he was pleased to provide certainty to players and clubs in preparation for the season ahead.

“We want to provide certainty to AFLW players, clubs and fans while the CBA negotiations are ongoing,” Dillon said.

"The first weekend of September is the best time for the 2023 season to start, with all eyes on the AFLW due to the bye in the AFL.

“Season length and structure continue to be discussed as part of CBA negotiations. Planning is well underway and we are excited for the AFLW season ahead.”

Port Adelaide will release its AFLW membership options in coming weeks.
