Trent McKenzie has escaped serious injury but will miss this weekend’s match against Carlton with an ankle sprain.
McKenzie landed awkwardly on his ankle during a contest late in the first quarter at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.
The defender will spend the next couple of weeks rehabilitating, with imaging soon after the incident clearing him of major structural damage.
Tom Clurey has been ruled out for the season after successfully undergoing back surgery on Monday to resect a bulging disc.
The defender has missed more than a month of football due to ongoing back pain, but is now on the road to recovery.
Ruckman Scott Lycett will be tested this week after missing two games with a cartilage tear in his knee.
Lycett will be assessed at training and could be a chance to take the field for the Blues’ clash at Marvel Stadium.
Both Lachie Jones (jaw) and Orazio Fantasia (hamstring) made successful returns to football over the weekend, with both pulling up well, while Brynn Teakle will integrate into training drills this week and could be eligible for selection within the next three weeks.
Port Adelaide will name its selected side for Saturday’s match against Carlton on Thursday evening at 5:50pm ACST.
