Port Adelaide players visited hundreds of residents in Lifestyle SA retirement villages on Thursday, to launch a generous voucher program supported club benefactor Gordon Pickard.

Under the scheme, every residence in every village receives a voucher redeemable for $150 in food and drinks at The Port Club, membership or merchandise. The vouchers also include family tickets to four Port Adelaide games during the 2012 AFL season.

The voucher program is in its second year and forms a key part of Mr Pickard and the Pickard Group/ Lifestyle sponsorship of the Port Adelaide Football Club which dates back to 2009 and was again expanded for this year.

Two players were accompanied by a senior club staff member for today’s program launch, with each group visiting one of 10 Lifestyle SA villages across the metropolitan area. Those visited include The Elms at Walkley Heights, The Ferns (Salisbury East), Forest Place (Happy Valley), Golden Grove, Heysen Court (Hope Valley), The Sands (Seaford), The Vines (Evanston Park), The Gardens (Parafield Gardens) and The Reserve (Woodcroft).

The villages are home to many passionate Port Adelaide supporters who were again grateful for Mr Pickard’s offer and the club’s involvement.

The players - who spoke at each village and took questions from the floor during a lunch provided by Lifestyle SA - were all impressed by the facilities and the warm welcome they received.

On Twitter, Paul Stewart (@PaulStewart14) said: “Good day out at Evanston Lifestyle Village with D-Rod. Met a lot of loyal fans that love Port Adelaide. Thanks goes to Gordon Pickard.”

Matthew Broadbent (@mbroadbent5) can even see himself moving in.

“Just leaving The Sands lifestyle village down at Seaford with @robbiegray17 Think I might move there when I turn 55,” Broadbent Tweeted.

The Port Adelaide Football Club looks forward to hosting the Lifestyle SA residents throughout the year and again thanks Mr Pickard for his outstanding support for the club and local sport.
