PORT ADELAIDE midfielder Jackson Mead has been named in the Advertiser SANFL Team of the Year.
Mead is the club’s sole representative in the side despite only playing in 12 SANFL matches, and has been rewarded for a consistent season in which he has averaged 22 disposals per game.
As well winning his own ball and 4.2 clearances on average, the 21-year-old has shown a willingness to get his hands dirty, racking up six tackles per game.
Glenelg dominated selection with six players and coach Darren Reeves recognised for that club’s table-topping season.
Tigers captain Max Proud was also named skipper of the Team of the Year.
Qualifying finalists Sturt and Adelaide each have four players in the line-up while North Adelaide was the only club without a player selected.
The Advertiser SANFL Team of the Year was selected by SANFL’s Matthew Duldig, Sean Toohey, Zac Milbank and Daniel Joyce, The Advertiser’s Andrew Capel, Football Budget editor Peter Cornwall, and Seven’s John Casey.
Mead and his Port Adelaide teammates will face Central District in the Elimination Final on Sunday from 12:15pm at Adelaide Oval.
Tickets are still available for the match, with Port Adelaide supporters encouraged to get down and support their team. Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate.
