An inaugural Port Adelaide AFL squad member in 1997 (recruited from Central District), Dew cemented a spot in the Power 22 in 1998 and from there made a name for himself with his long, raking goals from well outside the 50 metre arc. The crowd at Football Park would rise as one screaming “Deeeeeewwww” as soon as he got the ball in the attacking half of the field, urging him to go for goal. His lethal left boot saw him become a regular contributor in the Power forward line, including several six goal hauls and a 51-goal season in 2002 which won him the Power’s goalkicking for the year. The lovable crowd favourite was a member of the Power’s first AFL Premiership and announced his shock retirement at the end of 2006.
