New: Louie Montgomery

PORT ADELAIDE will have another debutant for Saturday’s SANFL clash with Sturt, with teenage father-son prospect Louie Montgomery named to make his league debut.

Montgomery has been brought into the line-up along with forward Ollie Lord and defender Dylan Williams, who have each returned from the AFL side, and midfielder Murphy Short.

The second son of 2004 premiership player Brett Montgomery, Louie Montgomery has been training at Alberton in recent weeks.

The 18-year-old Prince Alfred College Student is part of the Port Adelaide’s Next Generation Academy and is eligible to be drafted later this year by Port Adelaide, where his father player 126 AFL games.

The versatile midfielder/forward has impressed with North Adelaide in the Under 18 competition this season but is able to feature for the Magpies for four games under a ruling which permits father-son and Next Generation Academy players to feature for Port Adelaide in the SANFL.

It was a similar rule that allowed Rome Burgoyne to feature for the Magpies for the last three games, though he goes out of the side this week at the end of his stint to return to his parent club Woodville-West Torrens.

Preston Cockatoo-Collins and Hugh Ferrari also go out of the team, while Jed McEntee will miss under the concussion protocols, after taking a head knock against South Adelaide last week.

First bounce at Unley on Saturday is at 2:10pm.
