DEFENDERS Dylan Williams and Josh Sinn are among a group of players pushing for inclusion for Port Adelaide’s Semi Final against Hawthorn on Friday night.
The left footers could both bolster the Power’s backline in the absence of half backs Dan Houston and Kane Farrell.
Williams has played five AFL games this season. In 13 games in the SANFL he has averaged 16 disposals at 94 per-cent efficiency. He has also averaged six marks and 4.2 rebound-50s.
Sinn had seven SANFL games in which he averaged 20 disposals, five marks and three tackles, along with 4.3 rebound-50s. He has played four AFL games this season but none since the Round 17 win over St Kilda. He had 13 touches, eight marks, three tackles and five rebound-50s that day.
If the selectors opt for a change in the forward line, Todd Marshall and Ollie Lord are the front runners, but Dante Visentini’s form cannot be discounted.
The ruckman, who can also play forward, has played three times in the AFL this season including as recently as in Round 25 when he was a late replacement for the unwell Charlie Dixon. In the SANFL he was one of the more consistent performers in his 14 games this season, averaging 12 disposals, 5.5 tackles and 3.7 clearances along with 30.3 hit-outs.
Marshall has not played since suffering a concussion in the Round 22 win over Melbourne but has booted 20 goals in his 18 games this season.
Lord’s last AFL game was the Round 20 win over Richmond, in which he kicked a goal and laid four tackles.
After a standout debut SANFL campaign, midfielder Will Lorenz is another who could be in the selection mix. The 19-year-old has averaged 20.6 disposals per game, along with 4.2 tackles and 3.7 clearances.
Port Adelaide will on Thursday evening name its side for the clash with the Hawks.
Friday night’s game at Adelaide Oval gets underway at 7:10pm ACST with gameday information available at our AFL finals hub.
