PORT ADELAIDE have selected Jackson Mead as a father-son pick at the 2019 AFL Draft after successfully matching a bid made by Sydney at pick 25.
Mead, who is the son of inaugural Power best and fairest winner and three-time Magpies premiership player Darren Mead, becomes Port Adelaide's second ever father-son selection after Brett Ebert (son of Russell) in 2002.
While his father was a towering tall defender, the younger Mead is a fierce midfielder/forward known for courage and attack on the football.
The Woodville-West Torrens product is also good overhead for his size and an excellent decision maker with the ball in hand.

Mead also loves a goal, as was evident when he booted four majors in the Eagles 2018 SANFL Under-18 Grand Final victory - the same game in which he claimed the Alan Stewart Medal as the best player on the ground as a "bottom-ager".
The 18-year-old's decorated junior career also includes dual All-Australian honours, including averaging 21.1 disposals, three clearances and five tackles per game for South Australia at this year's NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.
This year, Mead also played SANFL football and was a member of South Australia's leadership group.
