FOODBANK SA and Port Adelaide are looking forward to another year of bringing some of Australia's biggest corporate names into their shared mission of providing meals to South Australians in need following a successful 2014 partnership.
Foodbank is the official charity partner of the Port Adelaide Football Club and together generated significant awareness of issues relating to hunger and food supply in Australia.
EnergyAustralia, Bendigo Bank, Transfield Services, Natural Gas Australia, Channel Seven and the Advertiser supported the Foodbank-Port Adelaide partnership this year, allowing Foodbank to generate in excess of $20,000 through a range of game day initiatives.
EnergyAustralia provided a further $100 per home goal by Port Adelaide's players to Foodbank.
With 189 goals kicked during the season, Foodbank provided 37,800 meals to South Australians in need.
EnergyAustralia will continue with this initiative in 2015.
Port Adelaide's corporate partners worked to construct a brand new home for auction at Bluestone with funds raised contributed directly to Foodbank.
Walker Corporation provided the land, Rivergum Homes constructed the three-bedroom house, Anthony Toop from Toop & Toop auctioned the home and fixtures and fittings were provided by Apex Steel, Bendigo Bank, Clipsal Schneider, Direct Interiors, Le Cornu, Presenting Beautiful Homes and V.I.P. Home Services.
EnergyAustralia also provided a three kilowatt solar panel system to the home as part of their diversification into the home services market.
This includes heating and cooling, solar and hot water systems.
The home project was successful in driving much needed revenue and corporate engagement for Foodbank and their plight to help the 100,000 South Australians who require food assistance every year.
The home was sold at auction prior to Christmas.
Port Adelaide’s partnership with Foodbank delivered over $1.25 million of media exposure which has helped build public awareness of Foodbank and its mission.
“Since our partnership with Port Adelaide, we have noticed a marked difference in the general public’s awareness of who we are and what we do. Port Adelaide has been a driving force in helping us reach more members of the community in need of food assistance,” said Foodbank chief executive Greg Patton.
Foodbank will be the game day partner for Port Adelaide's Round 18 game against St Kilda at the Adelaide Oval and home SANFL clash against the Adelaide Crows at Alberton, and will collect money at the gates in the Power's first home game against Sydney.
