The younger brother of Chad, Kane was drafted in the 2000 National draft as pick 20. His debut game came in the next year, in round 10, 2001, against Hawthorn at the MCG. His career highlights are many and various, including being named the best first year player in 2001, being voted the Most Improved Player in 2004 when he was an integral member of the Premiership side and also finished second in the John Cahill Medal, which he repeated the following year, before winning back-to-back medals in 2007 and 2008. He finished second once more in 2009. He was picked as an All-Australian in 2006 and 2007.
