The Power could travel on Friday - a day earlier than scheduled - to make sure the team is in place in time for Sunday’s match at Patersons Stadium.

Volcanic ash that has closed airports, grounded flights and affected thousands of passengers this week continues to cause confusion.

The AFL has secured a flight for Gold Coast and Hawthorn to travel to Launceston a day earlier than was planned, and a decision on Port Adelaide’s travel plans is expected on Thursday

Power Football Operations Manager Peter Rohde said the Club was ready to go early if necessary.

“We don’t think it’ll affect us too much. We went two days earlier to Darwin earlier this year and had good success with it. So it might actually be a positive in that way,” Rohde said.

“It means you’ve got to change around our training program for the week so we’re keen to confirm exactly when we’re leaving so we can work out whether we train and then travel or travel and then train over at Subiaco.”

“Either way, we can be flexible to fit into what we have to do.”

Rohde said the Club was certain the game would go ahead, and that it is working to ensure the team returns to Adelaide as scheduled on Monday to begin its recovery.

“Virgin have been fantastic in terms of accommodating us. And we’re already working on how we’re going to get back which is obviously important to us for next week’s game.”
