SILKY-SKILLED Power wingman Karl Amon was pleased with his output last season, but is looking to take his game to another level in 2020.
Amon had a career-best season in 2019 averaging 20 disposals and kicking nine goals from his 17 games and was rewarded with a three-year contract extension.
“Last year I was pleased with the improvement I had,” Amon told media on the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday morning.
“I just want to build on that and take that form into next year. Certainly, I want to take my game further and see how far I can go.
“With the new contract, I just want to keep improving.”
Amon and the rest of his teammates have been in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast for the club’s pre-season camp, and the 24-year-old has been impressed with the training standards in the sweltering conditions.
“We came up here for the humid conditions and that’s what we’ve got,” he said.
“It’s been really hot. Yesterday was in the high-30s maybe even 40s. It’s been really good to get up here as a group and train really well.
“Each session is hard, but it’s all about backing it up and doing it the next day.
“As a group, we have done that really well so far. We are in the final few days, and the group has performed really well.”
The Sandringham Dragons product has always been renowned for his running ability, and he said the competition on the camp has been a real positive for the group.
“Zak Butters has come back in some really good form,” Amon said.
“Xavier Duursma is pushing me as well. You have the older guys like Boaky who is always up there as well.
“It’s really good to have that competition and we push each other along really well.”
The players will have one more day on the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday before returning home and into the Christmas break.
