PORT ADELAIDE vice-captain Ollie Wines has been placed onto the club’s long-term injury list.

Wines dislocated his left shoulder last week and after consulting surgeons underwent an operation on Monday night.

He is expected to be sidelined for the start of the AFL season.

The AFL has approved Port Adelaide’s request to have Wines added to the long-term injury list, meaning he won’t be eligible for selection for a minimum of six weeks, or until Round 1.

“In order for our coaches to have maximum flexibility with regard to selection for Round 1, if Ollie is unavailable, we’ve made the decision to have him placed on the long-term injury list,” General Manager – Football, Chris Davies explained.

Port Adelaide will have its first competitive hit-out in an intra-club match at Alberton Oval on Friday 14 February before Marsh Community Series matches against Brisbane and the Western Bulldogs.
