KEY MIDFIELDER Brad Ebert is the highest-ranked Port Adelaide player in the 2012 AFL Coaches Association Wingman Champion Player of the Year award.

Ebert trailed vice captain Travis Boak by three votes heading into round 23 but a best on ground effort for the Power in its draw against Richmond on Sunday saw him awarded nine votes - bringing his tally to 37 votes overall.

Boak, who did not poll in the game, finished second overall for the Power with 31 votes.

Ebert has had a stellar season playing in the middle for Port, having regularly featured in the club’s best players and proving one of the best off-season trades in the competition.

Drafted to the West Coast Eagles in 2007 from Port Adelaide in the SANFL, Ebert returned to Alberton last summer.

His defensive and offensive skill has captured the imagination of fans this year and places him in contention to win the club’s best and fairest award in his first year as a member of the Power.

Injury-afflicted Hamish Hartlett finished third overall with two best on ground performances against St Kilda in round one and Carlton in round ten propelling him up the club’s standings.

Kane Cornes was tied with Ebert for the mantle of Port’s most consistent pollster - polling 19 votes across eight games.

Midfield revalation Matthew Broadbent was fifth overall for the Power with 18 votes.
