FOUR PLAYERS have been slated for assessment following dual wins over the Hawks in the AFL and Roosters in the SANFL on Saturday.

Angus Monfries, Tom Jonas, Lewis Stevenson and Sam Russell will be reviewed during the week for potential return from injury.

Port Adelaide’s high performance manager Darren Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au the club would assess how the quartet trains during the week before deciding whether to clear them for action.

“Gussy rolled his ankle on Saturday night and Tom Jonas has made progress in his groin recovery, but we’ll wait and see how they train during the week before making a call,” Burgess said.

“Lewis and Sam won’t play this weekend due to the state game, but they should be right to play Central District in two weeks’ time.”

Suspected knee injuries to both Campbell Heath and Brent Renouf in the opening quarter against North Adelaide on Saturday will require scans to determine the extent of the damage.

But as forecast by senior coach Ken Hinkley after Saturday night’s AFL win, the initial prognosis isn’t encouraging.

“As with all knee injuries we won’t know the full extent of the damage until the boys have been scanned, but it isn’t looking great at this stage,” Burgess said.

“We’ll reserve judgement though until we’ve had the results come in.”

Jake Johansen is clear to return from a wrist injury when the Magpies return against Central District in a fortnight while Louis Sharrad is now 8 weeks away from return.
