The 2012 Port Adelaide Football Club Family Day has been brought forward to incorporate a practice match and give supporters the first opportunity to see the AFL playing group in action ahead of the new season.

The event will be held at Alberton Oval from 5pm to 8pm on Friday 17 February, a day earlier than had been scheduled.

Friday Night Family Night will give spectators the chance to see the Power squad play in game-like conditions as the players and coaches finalise their preparation for the NAB Cup and the premiership season.

Port Adelaide chief executive officer Keith Thomas said: “We know how much our supporters are looking forward to the action in 2012 and by moving our family event forward we can give them an opportunity to see they progress the players have made over the off-season.

“To fit in with the pre-season training plan and to limit the risk of playing in very hot conditions, we have had to bring the event forward by a day.

“We will still have plenty of fun, player autograph sessions and an opportunity for everyone to have a kick in the indoor venue and on the oval, so we hope people won’t be put out by the change.

“It’ll be a great evening, with the opportunity to see the boys in action and get up really close to the players before the season kicks off.”

Magpies players will also be in attendance to take part in the kick and catch and mix with spectators.

The popular photo booth will operate with selected players and there will be catering options around the ground, as well as The Port Club bistro being open for meals (Bookings essential - 8447 9902).

Membership and merchandise stalls will also operate on the night, giving supporters the chance to sign up for 2012 and purchase items from our exclusive range.
