Port Adelaide CEO Keith Thomas said the 2013 draw provided a great opportunity for people to get to AAMI Stadium and support the Club as it tackles some of the AFL’s best clubs and biggest names on home turf.
“2013 is going to be a very important year for Port Adelaide and the fixture should further excite our Members and supporters, and drive them to get behind the team at our home games,” Mr Thomas said.
“We are embarking on a new era with Ken Hinkley leading our coaching group and a lot of fresh faces, and we will get to measure our progress against a great line up of visiting teams, hopefully in front of some really good crowds.”

Port Adelaide opens its 2013 home schedule in Round 2 against Greater Western Sydney at 7.10pm on Saturday 6 April, before hosting a twilight Balfours Showdown XXXIV the following week from 4.10pm on Sunday 14 April.
Round 5 delivers a second home Saturday night game in four weeks, with the Power hosting the Eagles in an AFL Anzac Round clash which will incorporate the awarding of the Peter Badcoe VC Medal and showcase Port Adelaide’s growing links with the defence community.
Port Adelaide also hosts an AFL Indigenous Round clash in Round 9, when the Aboriginal Power Cup finals will be played as curtain-raisers to Geelong’s first game against the Power at AAMI Stadium since Round 1 2008.
After its bye in Round 11, the Power meets more 2012 finalists in its next three home games, starting with reigning premier Sydney in Round 13 at 1.10pm on Saturday 22 June, Collingwood in Round 14 at 4.10pm on Saturday 29 June and Hawthorn in Round 16 at 1.15 on Saturday 13 July.
Port Adelaide has the honour of hosting the last ever AFL home and away game at AAMI Stadium, taking on Carlton in Round 23 at a time to be determined later in the year around finals commitments.
The Power’s other 2013 home games are against Richmond (Round 7, 1.15pm Saturday 11 May), Brisbane (Round 18, 12.40pm Sunday 28 July), and Gold Coast (Round 21, 1.40pm Saturday 17 August).
“Overall, we have a great line-up of home games next year,” Mr Thomas said.
“We’ve got a handful of Saturday afternoon games, but they feature some really great contests and there’ll be an extra sense of occasion given it’s the AFL’s last season at AAMI Stadium.
“We’ve also got some terrific timeslots including two Saturday night games which are our supporters’ number one preference. They’re also early in the year when the weather is its best, and one of them has the added significance of being part of Anzac Round which is really significant for our club along with the Indigenous Round opportunity in Round 9.
“Then to cap it all off, we play the very last AFL home and away game at AAMI Stadium 16 years after Port Adelaide entered the AFL and where the Club won 13 SANFL premierships.
“From start to finish, our 2013 fixture helps us farewell AAMI Stadium and lay the foundations for the following year when we move to Port Adelaide’s new home ground at Adelaide Oval.”
From an away game perspective, Port Adelaide is excited to play in every AFL market in Australia for the second year in a row, beginning with the Round 1 clash with Melbourne at the MCG on Easter Sunday 31 March.
“Once again we are in the privileged position of competing right across Australia, with games in Perth, Darwin, the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Geelong and our first trip to Blundstone Arena in Hobart,” Mr Thomas said.
“That’s fantastic for our many interstate Members and supporters, and also for our corporate partners in that it gives us an opportunity to activate on their behalf in every one of all of the AFL’s markets.”
Port Adelaide plays four times in Melbourne, including once at the MCG (Round 1 v Melbourne) and three times at Etihad Stadium (Round 8 v Carlton, Round 15 v Essendon and Round 17 v St Kilda).
“Additionally, we play the Gold Coast, Geelong and Fremantle on their home grounds as well as the Western Bulldogs in Darwin and North Melbourne in Hobart, so there are plenty of unique travel experiences for our supporters and also for the Club to explore as special away tour packages,” Mr Thomas said.
Port Adelaide returns to Darwin for the sixth consecutive year, taking on the Western Bulldogs at Darwin’s TIO Stadium in Round 10 at 7.10pm on Saturday 1 June.
The Power has the bye the following week which coincides with the Queen’s Birthday public holiday in South Australia.
