MATT Thomas has accepted the rough conduct charge handed down by AFL Match Review Panel (MRP) for a bump on Bulldog Tom Liberatore in Sunday’s game at Etihad Stadium.

The Port Adelaide Football Club elected not to contest the charge which carried a three match sanction, reduced to two games with an early plea.

Thomas’ bump on Bulldog Tom Liberatore was adjudged to be a Level Three rough conduct offence which carried with it a three-match sanction, reduced to two games with an early guilty plea.

"The risk of it [the sanction] going to three weeks was greater than the chance of it being reduced," said General Manager - Football, Peter Rohde.

Based on video evidence available and medical reports provided by the Western Bulldogs, the MRP assessed the incident as being reckless, of medium impact and resulting in high contact - resulting in six activation points towards the classification of a Level Three offence.

This equated to Thomas receiving 325 demerit points on his record and a three-match sanction if he chooses to contest the change.

Thomas has no previous good or bad record at the tribunal.
