The Port Adelaide Football Club congratulates Graham Cornes - father of Power premiership players Chad and Kane - on his induction into the AFL Hall of Fame.
Cornes was honoured for his extensive service to the game, including 317 games as a player with Glenelg (1973 premiership), 149 games as coach of Glenelg (1985, 1986 premierships) and 89 games as inaugural coach of the Adelaide Football Club (1991-94).
Port Adelaide chief executive officer Keith Thomas congratulated Cornes on his achievement.
“Graham’s record as a player, coach and long-serving commentator on our games stands for itself,” Thomas said.
“He is a member of the SANFL Hall of Fame and the Glenelg Hall of Fame and now he has this recognition from the game at the national level.
“At Port Adelaide, Graham will always be further valued for the fact that his sons Chad and Kane are among our premiership champions and finest players.”
In his acceptance speech, Cornes said seeing his sons win an AFL grand final with the Power in 2004 was his greatest thrill in football.
“I hate to say it because I hated Port Adelaide growing up, but it was watching Chad and Kane play in a premiership,” he said.
Port Adelaide acknowledges the contribution made by all of the newest inductees into the AFL Hall of Fame: Glenn Archer, Cornes, Shane Crawford, Chris Grant, Robert Harvey and Melbourne great "Big Bob" Johnson.
Congratulations also go to Barry Cable who was named the 24th legend in the AFL Hall of Fame.
