More discipline, says Surjan
Jacob Surjan says the Power will try to curb undisciplined acts when they take on Hawhorn
The Power fronted the AFL tribunal twice in the opening two rounds to challenge charges laid against ruckman Dean Brogan and forward Daniel Motlop.
On Sunday, two more senior players in skipper Dom Cassisi and Peter Burgoyne were cited and found guilty after separate, off-the-ball incidents.
Cassisi and Burgoyne will both sit out the clash with the Hawks after accepting their respective one- and two-match sanctions.
Surjan said it was unacceptable for players to be missing games through suspension.
"We committed some pretty undisciplined acts (on the weekend) and we have been undisciplined this year," he said on Wednesday.
"We've spoken about it, assessed it and moved on from it. We're still going to hit the ball and the man really hard; we just have to be a bit more disciplined in that respect.
"We want to be a physical team and attack the ball hard and that's what will focus on this weekend."
Cassisi was suspended for striking Melbourne's Lynden Dunn.
Surjan said Cassisi, who only took over as skipper during the pre-season, had been disappointed with his actions.
"Every guy that gets reported definitely feels like he's let the side down and being the captain, it's just a little bit upsetting for Dom," Surjan said.
"But guys like Peter Burgoyne did it (got reported) as well. We're going to have to move on and the guys that come in are going to have to step up and play as well as those guys (Cassisi and Burgoyne) have been playing."
Either Shaun Burgoyne or Kane Cornes will captain the Power in Cassisi's absence.
Burgoyne, who led the side when Warren Tredrea succumbed to injury last year, is available to play despite copping a knock to his knee on Sunday.
The Power could also look to recall clearance player David Rodan, who performed well for Norwood in the SANFL after being dropped. Nick Lower and Tom Logan are also in the mix.
Hawthorn will also be without some of its key players with Trent Croad, Stephen Gilham, Grant Birchall and Rick Ladson all missing through injury.
Midfielders Brad Sewell and Jordan Lewis and ruckman Robert Campbell will also have to prove their fitness to be considered for the clash.
The Hawks are renowned for playing 'unsociable football' and Surjan said it was important his side matched them for physicality without going over the top.
"We definitely think we've got the players to match them in that area," he said.
"Matty Thomas came in on the weekend and was fantastic in playing that role. We're just going to have all 22 players step up because Dom's our best tackler and Peter is tough at it as well."
