NEW recruit Angus Monfries lands at Alberton with 150 AFL games under his belt at just 25 years of age.

Having spent a majority of his time at Essendon playing in the forward line, Monfries says he's hoping to push up the ground in 2013.

"To be able to have more opportunity to play up the ground in the midfield is something I've always wanted to do and I'm a player that wants to get the best out of myself and I think I can do that at Port Adelaide," Monfries said.

"I've got a lot of work to do, I'm going to work really hard over the pre-season to get my body up to standard, to get my fitness levels to an elite level and I'll be putting every foot forward to try and make an impact in there next year."
