PORT Adelaide excitement machine Robbie Gray is set to play his first game of 2012 in what is a massive boost for the Power ahead of their clash with the Sydney Swans at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

Gray was sidelined in the lead-up to the Power's round one match against St Kilda with a strained hamstring, but trained without hindrance on Tuesday evening.

Capable of single handedly turning contests, his inclusion will give the Power's midfield added grunt, while also offering another valuable attacking target.

Power forward Justin Westhoff said Gray was certain to start this weekend providing he gets through training this week.

"Robbie's a pretty big part of our team, he's obviously a superstar for us … and we're looking forward to him playing his first game of the year," Westhoff said.

"That releases a few guys from the midfield to go forward so it's a big inclusion for us."

Gray led Port Adelaide's contested possessions last season and was the club's leading goalkicker with 32.

Fellow livewire John Butcher will have to undergo a fitness test later in the week to prove his hamstring's ready to face the Swans, while young Chad Wingard looks likely to overcome an eye injury.

Wingard suffered a scratched eye in the second quarter against Essendon, but Westhoff said he was expected to put his name up for selection.

"He (Wingard) is another guy who will get tested out during the week," Westhoff said.

"I think he'll play."
