JACOB Surjan says that fellow Port Adelaide hard-man Matt Thomas will line up for the Power at Etihad Stadium against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking at Power training at Adelaide Arena, Surjan revealed that Thomas had trained this week after withdrawing from last Sunday’s game with a corked thigh and should fit straight back into the side.

“Absolutely I think he’ll play,” said Surjan.

“I think he’s trained once already this week and he’s looking good so hopefully he gets up and puts the guernsey up for us this weekend.”

Thomas has fitted into a new role as a defensive small forward well - receiving praise for his tough effort against the Blues a fortnight ago.

“He just brings toughness and leadership and that’s probably what we missed a little bit last week - his toughness around the ball,” added Surjan.

“I think all the players and supporters know what Matty Thomas is going to bring week in, week out for the footy club.”

Selection for round twelve takes place tonight with a number of players up for consideration in an important clash for Port Adeliade - looking to enter the bye with a 5-7 record.
