Players Join Membership Telethon
Former Port Adelaide members who haven’t signed up for 2012 could receive a surprise telephone call from a player on Tuesday afternoon
Every player on Port Adelaide’s AFL list will be making random calls to unsigned supporters as the club targets 40,000 members for 2012. As of Tuesday morning, the tally stands at 32,938.
The players - together with club staff - will be ringing after 4pm, hoping to encourage supporters to get on board and share the club’s journey through the season ahead.
They’ll also be calling a number of people who’ve already become members, to thank them for their support.

The membership drive is being supported by Port Adelaide’s Key Partner radio station FIVEaa, with the drive program crossing regularly to Alberton to check in on the players’ progress.
Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas said the membership telethon was a way of connecting directly with former members. “The club has had a fantastic pre-season, in fact I don’t think we could have done much more,” Thomas said.
“And we want nothing more than for all those passionate Port Adelaide supporters to become members are really get behind their club as we take on the competition in 2012.
“We’d like to think our supporters have already seen the competitive spirit within the playing group which has been on show in the NAB Cup.
“We know we still have to prove ourselves, but it’s a great feeling for the players to know they have a loyal band of members behind them.”
