TRAVIS BOAK qualified for AFL Life Membership on Saturday evening when he took to the field for his 300th official AFL game.
Boak’s tally of 277 AFL games (along with pre-season and representative games) ranks him third behind Kane Cornes and Justin Westhoff for games played for Port Adelaide in the AFL.
Here is how the 2011 and 2019 John Cahill Medallist stacks up in the club’s record books:
5 - Boak was taken at pick 5 in the famous 2006 AFL National Draft which saw Port Adelaide also claim Paul Stewart at Pick 23, Nathan Krakouer at pick 39, Robbie Gray at 55 and Justin Westhoff at pick 71. Connor Rozee was also taken at pick 5 in the 2018 draft and only Hamish Hartlett (pick 4 in 2008) has been taken higher in the draft by Port Adelaide.
102 - Boak was the 102nd player to represent Port Adelaide at AFL level. His debut came in a 31-win over Essendon in Round 12, 2007 at Football Park. That day the spiky-haired midfielder had nine disposals, two tackles and a clearance in 61% game time. He would go on to play 14 games in all that season, losing only three times, including the never to be spoken about Grand Final against Geelong.
10 - Boak is currently tenth in the all-time goals kicked for Port Adelaide in the AFL. He has booted 176 goals across his 277 AFL games, which sees him rank one goal ahead of Chad Cornes (175 goals in 239 games) and six goals behind Brendon Lade in ninth (182 goals in 234 games). His best individual haul of goals has been the four goals he booted against Melbourne in Round 18, 2017.
118 - He has polled a total of 118 Brownlow Medal votes including his best 21 in a season in 2014, when he finished in a tie for fourth. He has polled 17 votes against Fremantle – his best against any team – followed by 14 against Melbourne and 13 against Hawthorn.
4 - Boak is one of only four players to win multiple John Cahill Medals in Port Adelaide’s AFL era. The others are Kane Cornes and Warren Tredrea (four) and Robbie Gray (three)
2 - Boak ranks second overall at Port Adelaide in the AFL for disposals with 6516 (behind Cornes on 7060), second for handballs by just one (3307 to Cornes’ 3308) second for kicks, first for tackles with 1213, first for inside 50s with 1127 (second is Tredrea with 891), first for clearances with 1168 (Gray is second with 916) and second for goal assists with 177 (behind Gray with 224)
