Sam Powell-Pepper will be in the mix to make his AFL return after a starring performance against Glenelg with a game-high 34 disposals to go with eight tackles and eight clearances.

PORT ADELAIDE could go in unchanged for a game for the first time this season with no injury concerns out of its win over St Kilda.

Despite the 54-point result, selectors will have a lot to ponder for Saturday night’s game against Brisbane after some strong showings at SANFL level.

In just his second game of 2021, midfielder/forward Sam Powell-Pepper starred for the Magpies against Glenelg with a game-high 34 disposals to go with eight tackles and eight clearances.

The 23-year-old also had six inside 50s and booted a goal himself in a strong all-round showing to prove he is ready to return to the AFL.

Forward Kane Farrell spent more time on the ball and picked up 23 touches, six tackles, four clearances and a goal to also put his hand up for AFL selection.

Ruckman Sam Hayes was good with 41 hit-outs, four clearances and a goal, as were consistent defenders Trent McKenzie and Jarrod Lienert.

Tom Rockliff was taken off early to keep him fresh as an AFL emergency but showed last week with his 41 disposals that he should be in the mix for selection.

Defender Riley Bonner has been cleared to play after a hamstring injury that sidelined him for five weeks. The 24-year-old started the season strongly and selectors might be tempted to bring him straight back into the AFL side given his ability to play up the ground on the wing.

The versatile Sam Mayes was the unused AFL emergency and is also in contention to come into the starting line-up to face his former side.

Port Adelaide will on Friday evening name its side to tackle the Lions, with the game getting underway at the Gabba at 7:25pm AEST / 6:55pm ACST on Saturday.
