Travis Boak and Brodie Grundy were the leading vote-getters for their teams on Sunday afternoon.

PORT ADELAIDE’s Travis Boak, Robbie Gray and Trent McKenzie were among those to receive votes from the coaches for the AFL Coaches Association AFL Champion Player of the Year Award after Sunday’s narrow win over Collingwood.

Boak received four votes – the highest of any Port player – after finishing with 27 disposals, three tackles and eight clearances.

On the vast expanses of the MCG, he also had 549 metres gained, second only to the 550 metres gained by teammate Kane Farrell, who was also in the votes.

Farrell was given three votes in his best performance of the season. The 22-year-old recorded career-highs for disposals (23) and marks (six) and his four score involvements proved vital in a low-scoring affair.

Robbie Gray, who finished with three important goals and 18 touches, received two votes, while in his first AFL game of 2021, Trent McKenzie was given a vote for his strong showing in the backline.

Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy, defender Jordan Roughead and midfielder Taylor Adams received the bulk of the votes despite Port coming from behind to steal a one-point win.

Grundy was among five players competition-wide to receive the perfect ten votes from the coaches.

The others were Brisbane’s Jarryd Lyons, Geelong’s Joel Selwood, Melbourne’s Clayton Oliver and Western Bulldog Marcus Bontempelli.

Oliver was the big mover on the overall leader board, moving into outright first position ahead of Bontempelli and Brisbane’s Hugh McCluggage. Vice-captain Ollie Wines remains Port Adelaide’s best placed player in tenth position, 16 votes behind Oliver.
